Racing

I am really into historic racing. It is just fantastic to see all these old cars being used, instead of being put away on a museeum or in the back of the local workshop.

I love the sounds , the smell and the fact that historic racing is more friendly than other motorsports. You can always ask questions and otherwise chat with the drivers. You are also able to come very close to the cars, get a good look of every detail of the car.

Rold Hillclimb 2011

The first hillclimb of the 2011 season. Great cars, sounds and nice weather

Last race of the 2010 season. Mixed race -65, -71, -76 classes

Jyllandsringen October 2010

Together with the final in the Danish Touring car Championship (DTC), there was a single heat for historic racecars.
A combined heat for both the -65, -71 and -76 classes. The championship for the historic race cars are already
over, so this was just an extra occasion for the drivers to floor the throttle. The number of cars was not impressive,
but the cars are always nice to look at.

Vintage pictures from the old Nurburgring - year 1969.

Nurburgring 1969

These picture are taken at the legendary old Nurburgring in Germany, also known as The Green Hell.
The driver in the Formula Vee (car no. 27) is a Danish driver who campaigned his Jala in the years 1969 - 1975.
The legend tells that the engine of the Jala was mounted by the driver/owner, on the back of the lorry.
While his friend was driving down the German autobahn.
In one of the pictures you can see a young version of Jackie Stewart, leaning against the lorry of our Danish Formula Vee hero.
Unique and very nice pictures. I gave the original copies of the pictures to the Jala driver, now a 67 year old man.

SUPER SALOON -  Danish 90's racing pre-season booklet.

Super Saloon Season 1992

I found this old pre-season booklet in my archives.
The booklet is from 1993 and it was handed out to racing spectators at the start of the season.
The booklet gives information about the class "Super saloon", the drivers and their fantastic cars.
At the time the money involved in Danish motorsports was quite different than today.
The race series exists today under the name SSC Challenge. At least one of the cars runs in the series today (the Fiat X 1/9).
Same owner and more powerfull than ever, impressive.
See their homepage here: http://www.specialsalooncar.dk.
I am looking forward to enjoy more spectacular racing in 2010. See below for the 1993 season booklet.

Munkebjerg Hillclimb 2009

Every year in August the Munkebjerg Hillclimb is held in the hills near Vejle in the Southern
part of Jutland. Fantastic cars shows up and compete for the title. The race is a round of the
Danish historic hillclimb Championship. Some of the cars are very rare and the value
is in the six digit euro area. Enjoy. The Danish historic racers association is here: http://www.hms.dk

Munkebjerg Hillclimb 2008 - A rainy day on the "mountain".

Munkebjerg in the wet (2008)

Munkebjerg Hillclimb 2008

In 2008 the race was held in a rainy weekend. The speed was a little lower, and some of the drivers
was more careful. Some drivers, never mind the slippery conditions and thundered up the hill. Enjoy.

Monte Carlo Historic Rallye 2004 - starting point Copenhagen

Monte Carlo Historic Rallye 2004

The above pictures are taken by me in January 2004 at the Copenhagen starting point of the Monte Carlo Historic Rallye.
The took the pictures with an old camera, scanned them and uploaded them to the homepage. Therefore the poor qulity.
The Monte is a fantastic event where both man and machine is put through the test. It is a regularity rally where the competitors
need to be the best in calculating the average speed in order to be at specific points at a certain time. As in the good old days.
Please note the Ferrari, quite a handfull on icey alpine roads.

More pictures and videos will come. From other types of historic racing (rally, touring car racing). So please drop in and pay the site a visit regularly.
